Initial Exam and Consultation
The purpose of your first visit is to meet with Dr. Vondran to evaluate and discuss your treatment needs. Dr. Vondran will review your dental and medical history and perform a clinical exam. He'll then explain various treatment options, make recommendations and explain the reasons behind them. If, after all your questions have been answered, you are ready to begin orthodontic treatment, our treatment coordinator will discuss fees and payment options with you.
Records Visit
Your next visit is the "records appointment," during which diagnostic records are made to help determine the best course of treatment. This typically includes a panoramic radiograph, a cephalometric radiograph, facial and dental photographs. Dr. Vondran uses these records to create your customized treatment plan and to track progress as your teeth move during the course of treatment.
Treatment Time
Treatment time typically ranges from one to three years, depending on growth and severity of the problem. Patients grow at different rates, and, consequently, respond to orthodontic treatment differently. Cooperation in wearing rubber bands (also called "elastics"), keeping your teeth clean and taking care of our braces as prescribed will also influence the length of time you are in treatment.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances usually takes one to two hours. Once you're wearing braces, you'll see us at regular intervals every 4 to 8 weeks for an adjustment, which usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Dr. Vondran and his staff will carefully explain everything. If you have any questions, be sure to ask!
It is essential that you come in at regular appointed times to insure that your treatment progresses as scheduled. We have made a sincere effort to arrange our appointment schedule in a way that enables us to serve all our patients fairly and minimizes time away from school.
We set aside blocks of time each day for certain types of procedures. Longer appointments and emergencies are scheduled during school hours. After-school times are reserved for adjustments and appliance checks, so we can accommodate many patients for these short appointments. If you like, we'll be happy to provide students with a written school excuse.
Parents are welcome to watch the treatment process and ask questions whenever they like.
Financial
Orthodontic treatment is an investment in the overall dental, medical and psychological well-being of children and adults. The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's orthodontic problem, and we will discuss fees and payment options with you before treatment begins. To prevent financial consideration from being an obstacle to obtaining this important care, we offer a variety of payment options:
- Zero% interest financing available, affordable down payments and sibling discounts.
Monthly payments are auto pay. Set up to draft from a checking account or charge to a credit card, flexible spending or medical re-imbursement account.
- We offer a 7% discount for patients that would like to pay in full.
- Extended financing of 36,48 and 60 months is available through Carecredit. You can review extended financing options at www.carecredit.com.
We accept payment by cash, check, and all major credit cards. However, unfortunately we do not accept American Express. We offer family discounts on the second and subsequent family members we treat.
Insurance
We are preferred and premiere providers for Delta Dental and Blue Cross Blue Shield. We except all insurances and are happy to prepare and file the claims for your convenience.
We realize that orthodontic treatment is a substantial investment of time and money. You have every reason to expect efficiency, accuracy and courtesy, and that is what Vondran Orthodontics delivers!
